Japanese Moriage Vase Saved from the Trash

Posted Saturday, August 27 by CAG

Frank found this 12" tall vase in the trash when an elderly neighbor couple was moving. He brought it to the Roselle MuseumFest to have it appraised.

This is a type of Japanese ceramic called Moriage. The raised decoration is applied with a squeeze bag, much like cake decorators work. It is probably from the 1930's and would likely be priced about $75 in local antique shops. Not a bad "find".
