What the heck is it?

Chris found this in a fishing tackle box that he inherited, and can't figure out what it is. He has fished for years and never seen one before.

Well Chris, don't feel too bad. The reason you can't figure it out, is that it has little or nothing to do with fishing. Unless of course, you like to eat cherries while you're fishing. It is a cherry pitter.

Put a cherry in the bottom. Put two fingers in the side by side holes, and push with your thumb in the top hole and the shaft pushes the pits out the bottom. If you ever broke a tooth on a cherry pit, it wouldn't seem like so much work. Apparently your relative knew there was a cherry tree near his favorite fishing hole, and took this along for the trip.
