Regular readers may remember this Pair of Gothic Revival Polychrome Chairs, from back in early January. To read the original article CLICK HERE. I recommended Leslie Hindman's auction house, here in Chicago. Their original estimate based on the photos, was $2,000 to $4,000 for the pair. The chairs sold on Monday at Leslie Hindman's for $3,000 plus the buyer's premium. Most items at auction sell within their estimates, which is a tribute to the knowledge and research abilities of the auctioneers and their staffs, in a field that is notorious for its uncertainty.
